DID YOU KNOW?
When you sign up for a subscription box, you are doing more than receiving delicious, healthful food!
What you get:
You receive a set box of your preferred value of organic veg and fruit each week delivered straight to your door. We decide what goes in each week based on what is seasonal and available. However, you can give us your preferences and we will work around that. Some people love the surprise and not having to decide!
You can rest assured that you are feeding yourself and your family food that is fully certified organic and grown in ways that are natural and provide full nourishment all without unnatural chemicals involved.
You can order extras from our full list of products to come with your box at any time.
We will send recipes and other bits of information from time to time.
What you give:
You are supporting a small local business, so you are contributing to the Irish economy and local employment.
You are supporting an Irish grower to produce tasty crops grown on fertile Irish soil. It is crazy that we import so much food from outside the island when the taste of Irish is second to none!
You are supporting a return to natural ways of growing that works in harmony with nature rather than against it and this is essential for looking after our beautiful county and planet.
How to pay:
We accept cash on delivery, online payment or direct debit. If you opt for the direct debit option you don't have to worry about remembering to pay (and we can depend on your payment). If you are away for a weekend and don't wish to receive your usual box we can provide a non-perishable box to the same value on the next week if you opt for this option.
Reusable boxes:
We can offer you a set of reusable food grade hard plastic boxes when you sign up. We leave a box with the delivery one week and you leave it out for return as we deliver the second box the next week. We do ask for a deposit of 25 euros (to cover two boxes) just in case the boxes are not returned. But these boxes are hygienic, reusable for many years and we can avoid using unnecessary disposable packaging by using them.
For anyone who doesn't wish to use these boxes we can send your delivery in reused produce boxes instead.
FAQ:
Can I try a box before I make a commitment?
Absolutely. You can order a box to try out and see which size box suits your situation best.
Can I cancel?
Yes, you can cancel your subscription at any time if your circumstances change.
What if I will be away?
You can let us know and we will pause or cancel your box for that time.
What if I am not home when the delivery arrives?
If you will regularly not be at home we ask that you provide a place where we can safely leave the box until you are at home. This could be in a garage, or in an outside box or bin. If you wish to receive a text when the box has been delivered we can also do that.
What if we have allergies or things that we won't eat?
Just let us know and we will make sure you don't receive those things. If an allergy is involved please let us know that it is an allergy and not just a preference.
What if I receive some veg or fruit that I am not familiar with and don't know how to use it?
We will try to explain things that are more unusual and provide recipe ideas. However, if this still happens please just reach out and ask.
What if we prefer to just order what we like?
We have the option of ordering through our order form as and when you wish and not being part of a subscription box.
Do you grow everything yourself?
Whilst our focus is on growing, we offer much more that what we are able to grow. We do this in order to provide the customer with a complete service. Obviously we are not able to grow bananas in Ireland nor produce cucumbers in January. So we do buy in from other Irish producers when we need to and we do directly import produce from Europe each week as well. The priority for set boxes is for farm produce and our 'Farm Only' box contains only what we have grown ourselves.
Where are you in the Slieve Blooms?
We are not actually located in the Slieve Bloom Mountains. We grow nearby at Lough Boora Farm, Boora, Offaly. The business is named after the Slieve Bloom Mountains because three organic businesses now operate from Lough Boora Farm and Alison Chambers' business needed it's own name! She has lived in or near the Slieve Blooms for nearly three decades and the name represents the natural, unspoilt landscape of Laois and Offaly.
